This section is the backbone of the ROCK SOLID Program.
Information systems can make or break a business.
We have an uncommon strength in this area.
We work with our clients to forecast the next 12 monthly income statements and create Variance Reports that identify how the key profit centres are operating.
They also give a good understanding of how costs are controlled.
This is a really good example of driving while looking out the windshield. Project the financial performance that you want and then get out there and make it happen.
Financial statements always look into the past and you can learn from them, but it’s like trying to drive looking in the rearview mirror. Everything you see in your financial statements has happened in the past and you can’t roll back time and change them.
Where our strength really comes from is organizing your bookkeeping to reflect the way you think about your business. This isn’t a second set of books. It is one set of books that works for everyone.
All too often the statements are set up to serve the taxman and the banker. It leaves business owners short on the information they need to effectively manage their business.
“This is worth its weight in gold.”
is a common response when ROCK SOLID’s system is put into place.
We use accounting to build accountability into the business.
Targets are clearly set and everyone in the company knows what they need to accomplish for the business to operate profitably.
Profitability should be a shared responsibility.
It does not need to fall entirely on the shoulders of the business owner.
MVP Dashboards
This is where ROCK SOLID drills down a little deeper.
We track key numbers as the month progresses so real time adjustments can be made if performance is not up to par.
It also gives the employees timely feedback on their area of responsibility.
MVP = Measured Valuable Performance
When it comes to MVPs there are leading indicators and lagging indicators. An example of a leading indicator is the number of sales calls being made. More sales calls are likely to lead to more revenues. Lagging indicators highlight things that have already taken place. An example of this would be daily sales receipts.
A good dashboard will take 6 to 8 key numbers into account and provide a snap shot of how the business is performing.
It gives everyone timely information and identifies emerging issues before they become problems.
